History, art and beauty meet on Cockatoo Island in Sydney, where the above images were taken. A strange, yet effective contrast is created when the multimedia installations of the Sydney Biennale are set against the backdrop of silent, disused machinery from Australia’s industrial past. And outside of the buildings, scenic views of boats, rooftops and harbour views continue to meet your eye from every corner of the island. Cockatoo Island is well worth a visit on the basis of its history and views alone, but visit during the Sydney Biennale and you can enjoy yet another aspect of this charming place.
